Look, man. I worked in the industry for 15 years, as a server and later, a manager. I know it’s hard work, and it’s hard to keep a place open in the best of times, and these have very much not been the best of times.
But you’re paying half or more of your staff like $2.15/hr in the majority of states, and they’re relying on tips to make up the rest, during a time when tips are at an all time low. They are making nothing.
The rest of your staff are trying to scrimp by on minimum wage for fewer and fewer hours.
Along comes the stimulus, the additional unemployment benefit, and tax payments, and for possibly the first time, your staff has enough money to live on.
You honestly expect them to expose themselves to a lethal virus on the daily for the pittance you’re paying them?
And then you have the unmitigated gall to be shitty about it to them?
