TL;DR: Trump’s too sick to debate, they’re worried he won’t be well anytime soon, and they know the only way he scores points in a debate is to be there in person bullying his way through the questions, anyway. He’ll get stomped on in a “virtual” debate with a mute button.
This morning the Debate Commission announced that the second Biden/Trump debate would be held virtually, and Trump said he’d drop out if that were the case. Then he released the statement above, demanding to move the debate date, and add a third date.
