Trump’s ‘Space Force’ & Kids’ Concentration Camps

Today Trump announced that he’s directing our military to create a “Space Force.” Which is not actually a thing Trump can do. Or any president can do, as a matter of fact. Creating a new arm of the military has to be done by Congress. And this particular batch of Congresscritters can’t seem to get anything accomplished, so the announcement was a lot of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Also, pretty sure the Air Force already handles space/military stuff. Because, you know. Air Force.

Meanwhile ProPublica got their hands on secret audio from some of Trump’s concentration camps for kids. I highly recommend listening to it, especially if you want to ugly-cry for a couple of hours.

So, what can you do? Well, find a protest and join in. But that can be tricky for a lot of reasons. Work, transportation, whatnot. So, if you can’t find a protest, call your senators and representatives.

Do not email. Do not tweet. Do not Facebook. First, call your senators and representatives. Then email, tweet and Facebook.

Emails, tweets and Facebook posts help, but calls count for more, because they take more effort.

If at all possible, show up. Show up at protests. Show up at your senators’ and representatives’ offices.

When speaking to your senators and representatives, be civil, be brief and succinct, tell them you’re a constituent, and tell them what you expect them to do.

Remember that the Trump administration is basically using this situation to hold kids hostage in exchange for funding for a border wall, so be careful which bills you endorse to your senators and representatives. This bill seems to be pretty good. A few of the more popular bills bouncing around mostly just fund the wall without doing anything for the kids and families.
